A wholesome scene showcasing apples, salad, and various supplements for a balanced diet.

Living with rheumatoid arthritis has taught me that healing is not one-dimensional. It’s not just about doctors or medications — it’s about supporting my body with everything God has made available. From nutrition and rest to movement and mindset, I’ve learned that being a good steward of my health is one way I honour the body God has entrusted to me.

One key part of that is my supplement regimen. It’s something I approach with prayer, research and a lot of trial and learning. These supplements are not magic cures — but they are tools. Tools that help me support my body’s natural processes, reduce inflammation, manage fatigue and stay as well as possible.

In this post, I’m sharing exactly what I take, why I take it, the science behind it and how my faith shapes the way I care for my body.

💛 Why I Take Supplements — From Both a Practical and Faith Perspective

I truly believe that God has filled creation with resources designed to support our bodies. Whether it’s herbs, nutrients, or minerals, these are part of His provision — not a replacement for faith, but a way we can work in partnership with Him to care for the bodies He’s given us.

The Bible reminds us in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. Stewardship of our health is not about perfection — it’s about intention, wisdom, and grace.

💚 Moringa

  •  A plant rich in nutrients, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory compounds — supports my immune system and overall energy.
  •  A beautiful reminder that God’s creation is full of natural ways to support our wellness.

💛 Curcumin with Black Pepper

  • One of the most studied natural anti-inflammatories. The black pepper boosts its absorption significantly. This helps reduce my joint pain and stiffness.
  • A powerful example of how God’s simple things — like spices — hold deep wisdom for health.

☀️ Vitamin D3 (1000 IU, 3x/day)

  • Vital for immune regulation. Low vitamin D is common in RA and can worsen symptoms. It also supports mood and energy.
  • Known as the “sunshine vitamin,” it’s a reminder that even light itself plays a role in healing.

🐟 Omega-3 Salmon Oil (1000 mg, twice daily)

  • Reduces joint inflammation and stiffness, helps with brain and heart health, and generally lowers chronic inflammation levels.
  • The nourishment from the sea is part of God’s abundant provision for wellness and strength.

🔋 Vitamin B12

  • RA often drains energy and can contribute to nerve dysfunction. B12 helps support energy levels, nerve health and cognitive function.
  • Stewarding the energy God gives me is part of staying well — it helps me show up for my purpose, even on difficult days.

🌙 Slow Mag (Magnesium, 450 mg, evening)

  • Supports nerve function, reduces pain, eases muscle cramps and improves sleep. Also shown to help manage stress and inflammation.
  • Magnesium reminds me that sometimes healing is in the simplest things — quiet, steady, foundational.

💊 Vitamin D3 + K2 (evening)

  • D3 helps with immunity and mood. K2 helps direct calcium into bones instead of joints or arteries, supporting skeletal health — crucial with RA.
  • A reminder of how everything in creation is designed to work in harmony — balance is a part of God’s plan for wellness.

🌿 How I Approach Supplements — In wisdom and faith

I don’t believe supplements are magic. They don’t replace prayer, they don’t replace medical advice — but they are a form of stewardship.

I believe God has given us tools: plants, nutrients, and minerals that, when used wisely, can support our bodies in profound ways. This regimen isn’t about chasing perfect health — it’s about doing what I can, with what I’ve been given, in partnership with the Great Physician.

  • You are not powerless.
  • You are not forgotten.
  • God has given you tools — both spiritual and physical — to support your healing.
  • It’s okay to use what’s available, to take steps forward and to trust that God is with you in every part of the process.

“Beloved, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.” — 3 John 1:2 (NIV)
